Mecanitzats Muntada was founded in 1989, in Manlleu (Barcelona).
Nowadays, Mecanitzats Muntada is established at Joan Vilaregut’s street, nº 19, I.Z. El Verdaguer and holds the B-63330104 tax number. Since 1980, we’ve been adapting ourselves to our market and our customers’ needs, time enough to show our dynamism and entrepreneurship.
We currently have a staff of 10 workers in Manlleu. Our professional activity, after working for eleven years in a molds workshop, began at our 60m2 home garage. Although the tools we worked with at that time were all conventional, the market needs and the requirement of much more sophisticated pieces drove us to dive into numeric control technology in only ten years.
To achieve that purpose, it was imperative to grow either technically and spatially. That is why we acquired a 600m2 property at Verdaguer Industrial Zone. Months later, we build up a 400m2 industrial warehouse in where we are still working. The expansion enabled the acquisition of the first numeric control machine, and, over time, some others have been added. That bet helped Mecanitzats Muntada business development and contributed to enlarge our services range over multidisciplinary sectors. The company started manufacturing trimming and thermoforming moulds for manual machinery. In a short period of time, we dare to use automatic equipment to work for electronics industry and pneumatic tooling.
Nowadays, we mechanise all kind of pieces made from al type of materials (steel, aluminium, stainless steel, technical plastics, etc.)
The beginningsOUR STORY
Des de l’any 2001 que estem introduïts al sector càrnic, on prestem servei a les més importants i variades firmes. Per a aquest clients produïm, essencialment, un ampli ventall de peces de recanvi i motllos de termocomformat per envasar els seus productes. Mecanitzats Muntada sempre ha tingut molt clar que no era bo treballar en un únic sector. Per això, a hores d’ara, elaborem peces de molta precisió per a indústries alimentaries, automobilístiques i del sector de l’oci, entre d’altres. Aquesta especificitat els obliga a ells i de retruc, a nosaltres, a esdevenir molt escrupolosos en la definició dels plànols originals de cada projecte i a minimitzar els marges de tolerància de les peces mecanitzades. Una altra de les nostres línies de negoci actual és la fabricació d’utillatges de soldadura, matrius de tall i d’estampació. En paral·lel i des de 1996 som proveïdors de Seat Sport, la filial de competició de SEAT. Va ser una evolució molt important en mecanitzar peces bastant més complicades amb control numèric, i ens va permetre conèixer els diferents materials per les peces de competició.
Since 2009, we are Sherco’s provider, a French enduro and trial motorbike’s manufacturer. We elaborate the most important and complex part of the whole engine, the cylinder head, either for enduro 4T and trial motorbikes.
Since 2009 we are as well Dorna’s provider. They are the ones in charge of Moto GP worldwide commercial development. In this case, we were asked to mechanise and manufacture the subjection system components for OnBoard cameras. Since then, we build the support for the cameras and electronic system boxes in charge of storing telemetric data form Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, etc… motorbikes. This information is launched on TV to complete the spectacular visual show this international championship arises. All the pieces we manufacture for Dorna have been approved by Moto GP organisers as well as by Yamaha, Ducati and Honda’s engineering teams.
The passion for sport, the essence of our activity added to the fact that our CEO has participated in several motorsport competitions has brought to our company a special sensitivity to negotiate and sign agreements with companies related to this sector. Worldwide acknowledge teams such as Mistubishi, Opel, Peugeot Sport, Nissan, Ford or Hyndai had hired our services when testing their vehicles in Catalonia to mechanise top-level competition pieces. Toyota F1 team, while training in Montmeló’s circuit, asked for our collaboration a year before participating in the international championship. Calm Competició, PCR Sport, Baporo and Racing&ClassicArt have trusted us since long ago.
Talking about motorbikes, we were Derbi Racing’s provider for 2 years. We have machined pieces for Francesc Cucharreras, a KTM official pilot and Spanish SuperMotard champion. In 2010, we were honoured to build up some pieces from Toni Elias’ motorbike, the one with which he won Moto2 World Championship.
We can say that Mecanitzats Muntada is in the first line of motorsport, at the highest-level of professional competition. In the world championships of motorbikes, rallies and WTCC. We highlight that we were the world champion with Seat Sport.
The beginnings of CKU Project
Dorna shows interest on the project and recognises it as an official Moto GP product.
CKU project international success
It was a year of significant demand, it was overall significant for its renting’s rates. We sign distribution agreements and we have agents in several countries. We get to other countries thanks to direct selling. We have sold or rent CKU to all continents except from Africa.
2016 CKU wins Innovacat Award
We apply for Innovacat Award to develop a new department which will be in charge of CKU28 Sport Fitness. It is our training tool for professional motorbike pilots.
We started this project in association with Àlex Crivillé and Javier Ullate in 2012. The business development of CKU Sport Fitness began in 2014, exceeding all our expectations and bringing us an international commercial challenge.
Expectations and conclusions:
We help to pioneer a revolution over elite motorcycle pilots’ training. We aim to contribute to increase realism and to mark the layout of quality simulation systems to be applied in videogames.
